Grant graduated with a degree in commerce from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario in 1975. While at McMaster, Grant earned two Canadian championships in the sport of rowing at the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta in St. Catherines, Ontario in 1972. He graduated Magna Cum Laude and was awarded an athletic letter for four years of varsity competition.
After graduation, Grant started his career with a major oil company. He was quickly promoted to area manager of the company’s self-serve retail gasoline outlets in the Toronto region. Within 18 months, he was promoted again, this time to the post of retail representative where he won the company’s sales contest in his first year on the job.
In 1980, he was accepted by the Faculty of Law at the University of Windsor and completed his law degree in 1983. After a year of articles, he was asked to join the insurance defence firm Lee, Fireman, Regan in Toronto in 1985. In 1987, he made a decision to branch out on his own and has been engaged as a sole practitioner ever since. He has been a member of the Law Society of Ontario since 1985 and, in June, 2024 he was called to the bar in the Province of New Brunswick as well. He continues his law practice in the areas of Family Law, Probate, Estate Litigation and Business Law.
Grant also serves small and mid-size business entities in Canada in the areas of partnership and shareholder agreements, government compliance, contracts, litigation, human resources management, accounting, taxation and marketing. He now offers lawyers coaching in the area of online marketing.
